dear journal
(2.27.12) spending time with anna yesterday was a good time. you know it's funny we sometimes don't realize the good time that we're having until it's over. maybe that's why people look back when they are older and say "those were the good old days." in reality, the "good old days" are right now. why do I have to look at a picture after the memory is already past to realize that? maybe i'm so caught up in looking for what fun i'm gonna do next that I completely miss what special time is going on right now. you know a lot of people want to grow up and move on to something bigger and better... they want to do whatever is next now. they want to turn sixteen so they can get their license. they want to turn eighteen so they can move out. they want to turn twenty-one because that's when they will graduate from college. honestly, i am glad i'm where i am right now. i am loving this time of my life. if i'm constantly in the future, i wouldn't be like that. so look at the pictures and enjoy reliving the memories, but don't miss the moments made right now.

Oh you are so smart. If only I would have realized that sooner.
Good for you! I don't know how many times I wished for certain moments in my life while I was younger, and now those moments are long gone and I often wish for them back. Enjoy your time, Memory :)
I love this! I used to long for the future. Then when that future came, something new would take its place. While it's okay to daydream, I've learned it's more important to make the most of the time you're living now :) I just wish I would've realized this when I was younger!
So true. But I also think living 'now' is one of the big challenges of life. There is always so much more 'stuff happening' in the time before and after, that sometimes we overlook this tiny little moment we have now..
It's so true! Times that didn't seem that fun in the moment ALWAYS seem better after the fact huh?
I love your blog."...checkout mine....yaplesyaker.blogspot.com

Cute.
So true! My sister keeps saying, "Vicki's 18 now. Soon she's gonna get a job and move out into her own apartment, then she's going to find a boy and get married, and then she'll be having lots of kids." She's got my whole life planned for me (and my whole family knows it, since she's told everyone who'll listen, haha)! It makes me go, Whoa! Slow down!
The Bible tells us not to worry about the future, that it's foolish and sinful, not to mention stressful! According to my sister, I'm practically a mother now! Sooo...I try to keep my focus on what's important now, and face the other obstacles when they arise.
Ummm...this has got to be my longest comment ever! Lol!
Cute pics, btw!

ah, very well said, memory! I feel like I do this all the time too, sometimes it's hard to enjoy things in the moment. Thanks for the reminder!

i can't wait to read more of your sweet stories.
That's good life advice. =]
I know that feeling where you don't realize how amazing something was until its gone (temporarily or permanently). Kind of like you said, I couldn't WAIT to move out when I was eighteen, but now that I'm 14 hours away from home... I'm realizing how fantastic my home and town was. Thanks for reminding me to live in the moment!
You always have the BEST stories to share :)
And seriously... can I come play? How FUN!
You're so wise Memory!
