i like books.

ever since i can remember, i read. growing up, we read more books than we watched tv. that's just the way mom and dad raised us. on tuesdays, right after piano lessons, was a trip to the library. us kids loved the library.

i still do. i go every chance i can. poor mom has to sit out in the running car with the groceries and wait while i browse all the books, carefully selecting my titles. sometimes i consider myself a picky reader. on some days, i feel so desperate to read a book, i'll read just about anything... as long as it's clean. mostly i enjoy true stories. the real life, feel-like-you've-been-there, daring stuff. as of late, biographies grip me and draw me in more than anything.

sometimes i ask myself why i like to read. i love words. i love writing so i love seeing how others write. reading about other's lives fascinates me too. there's nothing like being drawn into another life and learning - another world almost. reading makes me forget everything else. you can be anyone you want to be when you read.

a few titles i have read recently...

black heels to tractor wheels {not my favorite}
by ree drummond

i am herman cain! by herman cain

a few titles i am going to read...

enjoy every sandwhich by lee lipsenthal, m.d.

walt disney: the triumph of the american imagination by neal gabler

one of the best books i've read is one thousand gifts by ann voskamp. that book changed the way i look at life. to date, the best book i have ever read is the Bible. there is never a lack of inspiration with this book in hand and in life.

what do you read?

I love this post because I LOVE reading! I read about anything I can get my hands on.:) But it is getting harder to find books that aren't about vampires and girls that, in 5 min., discover that they are something else then they thought they were. *rolls eyes*

Yes... LOVE reading books! I've actually been needing some new ones to read. So glad you posted this!

I'm the same way. I remember checking out my 20 book limit at the library back when I was just 6.

Who needs TV??! :) OK, I admit I like a few shows, but ... honestly. I love going through a new book (or 'new to me' cause I love olllld ones too) and marking it, and bending down the corners of the ones I like, and smelling the book smell.

I love me some reading too! I go all over the place with books. I do love me some fantasy though. I think the best biography that I've ever read is "Love, Janis". It's about Janis Joplin, and it was awesome!

When I was in high school, I discovered historical fiction. I am absolutely in love with that genre. I also really enjoy 19th century literature -- Jane Austen, anyone?

I love reading, too! I mostly love historical fiction, and like you, biographies. I want to be an author, and I love reading mysteries and other amazing books that inspire me to get back to my writing!
Recently I have read:
Alone yet not Alone by Tracy Michelle Leininger (If you like excitement, danger, Indians, and inspiring stories, READ THIS!)
With Lee in Virginia by G. A. Henty. We are reading this for school, and I have really, really enjoyed it! It's about a young man in the cavalry during the civil war. It is very exciting!!

i love fiction. biographies don't really do it for me.

i guess i like to escape when i read, into a whole world of fantasies.

i love that you love reading...cuz i don't. I have tried so many times to get into reading but it's just hard for me to find books i really enjoy.

Yay for a book blog! :D

I wasn't a fan of Black Heels to Tractor Wheels either. It was kind of a bummer for me.

I think it's the way I stand/sit. I tend to lean on the outside of the feet sometimes. Especially when I am sitting down in the car for a long time.

reading is my FAVORITE! a few of my all time favorite books are: the bell jar, a thousand splendid suns, and white oleander (: i have never heard of one thousand gifts, I will have to look it up!

Great post! ^^
I was raised the same way...my Mom's solution to boredom or insomnia was always to read a book...I remember falling asleep reading so many times when I was little! I miss reading tags other than college textbooks, and I plan to make up for that this week over break, and finally finish reading Herman Cain's book! I was really liking it, and en school started... :/ what did you think of it?

I too am making my way through the scriptures. For fun I am about to start book 2 in the Hunger Games series, I am all swept up in the excitement of it all. The kids and I spend hours at the library, we all just love it. I usually bring home 60 books, 2 library cards worth.

I encourage Mr.Freddy to read more books
than watching tv... I always tell him through reading he learned alot of things and broaden
his word vocabulary.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, darling!

Those sound like good books, I am the same way when I start to read it is like I have slipped away into another world where I don't have to worry about what is going on in mine. I currently read all of the hunger games! you should read them, despite how popular and over advertised they are, they are amazing and capturing books, haha. Just saying:)

You and I sound a lot alike in terms of reading so much growing up - it used to be I'd rarely ever be without a novel. Now, I don't read quite as much but still love it! Primarily, I read Christian fiction but have been stretching my possibilities quite a bit just recently. I've read some "secular" novels and recently read a couple of books that were not fictional.

what a lovely habit. Your parents sis a great job. I like reading too. I like biographies and also kind of boring How-to books. I always find it fascinating to read the How-tos. Oh yes, the best book is the bible, there's always something new to learn everyday!
